Tomorrow's Leaders Need Books Today
“My school doesn’t have a library, so this year I really wanted to build a space where kids could come and read fun books, read books at their level. I contributed a lot of my own money to building that space.” - Mairead Beane, English Teacher
When two-thirds of all classroom materials are purchased by teachers, literacy and language classrooms need a hand now more than ever.
Contributions to the AdoptAClassroom.org Literacy and Language Fund will support English, ELL, ESL, and Language Arts classrooms across the country. On AdoptAClassroom.org, teachers choose the supplies they need to create classrooms where students can succeed. As a contributor to this fund, you will receive regular updates and photos from teachers and students about how your impact is making a difference in their class.
“Proficient readers are almost six times less likely to drop out of high school than those reading below a basic level. 96 percent of proficient readers graduate high school.” - Double Jeopardy: How Third-Grade Reading Skills and Poverty Influence High School Graduation, The Anne E. Casey Foundation
